2.0Questions

Frequently asked

Short answers about formats, limits and privacy.

What is the difference between SRT and WebVTT?

SRT uses comma separated milliseconds such as 00:01:23,456 while WebVTT uses periods such as 00:01:23.456 and requires a WEBVTT header. WebVTT also supports cue styling and positioning for HTML5 video elements.

Are my subtitle files uploaded to any external server?

No. This tool operates entirely inside your web browser using client side JavaScript. Your files and transcript data never leave your computer.

Can I convert from VTT back to SRT?

Yes. Use the direction toggle at the top of the converter card to switch between SRT to VTT and VTT to SRT modes.

Is there a file size limit?

The drop zone accepts files up to 5 MB, which easily accommodates hours of subtitle cues and dialog text.
