Output and limits and the request that starts a job

To get a YouTube transcript via API, POST the video URL to https://api.transcriptdock.com/v1/jobs with mode "captions_only" and read the transcript from GET /v1/transcripts/{id}. Results carry segment timing per caption cue and export as JSON, SRT, VTT or TXT.

What you get

  • Manual creator captions first, then platform automatic subtitles
  • AI transcription on paid plans, when no captions exist or when you ask for it (not available yet)
  • Export as TXT, JSON, SRT, VTT

Limits

  • Standard watch links (youtube.com/watch?v=...)
  • Shortened share links (youtu.be/...)
  • YouTube Shorts links (youtube.com/shorts/...)
  • Up to 250 MB and 2 hours per file
